Meet Neema

Neema is a dedicated teacher at Congo Restoration‘s Girls School of Compassion, where she has been shaping young minds for the past five years. Her path to the classroom was anything but easy.

Before becoming a teacher, Neema endured years of physical and emotional abuse in a relationship where she was constantly told she was worthless and unintelligent. In a country where leaving an abusive marriage is often seen as taboo, Neema made the courageous decision to walk away and reclaim her life.

Determined to build a better future, she went back to school and earned her teaching certification.

Today, Neema is not only remarried but also deeply respected in her community — not just as a wife or a survivor, but as a professional woman and a passionate educator. She teaches with compassion, mentors with purpose, and serves as a powerful role model to the girls she teaches — proving every day that no one is defined by their past and that education can be a pathway to dignity, strength, and renewal.

By supporting teachers like Neema, you’re not only helping educate the next generation of Congolese girls — you’re helping empower the women who teach them.
